MAPS FOR A POST-GEOGRAPHIC WORLD

Maps For a Post-Geographic World explores the vastness of venues for contemporary human interaction. Since the dawn of telegraphy in the mid 19th Century, humans no longer need to be together to interact in real-time. The 21st Century has seen an exponential expansion of these post-geographic technologies; meanwhile contemporary cartography has left these spaces unexplored.

This series uses bleeding edge artificial intelligence algorithms, modified by the artist to research and chart all of the spaces a human can interact with another in modernity. These spaces include phone and SMS lines, social media, video games, video conferencing, and many more. The results are abstracted by their complexity, yet retain the immediate impression of familiar cartographic styles from various cultures throughout history.
